Pedestrian crossing
« on: January 01, 2020, 12:03:12 pm »

3 weeks ago my father in law was hit by a car on a pedestrian crossing.
The 81 year old man suffered severe injuries but none directly life critical.
My wife flew home immediately and this week I joined here in Warschau.

Today Diadek (grandfather) was brought home per ambulance, exactly on their 59th wedding anniversary.

Hopefully we can positively end these turbulent Christmas holidays with good hope.

Good luck, Ivo. Hope your new year will be better than your Christmas.

Yes indeed, Ivo, let's hope that the rest of the year sees things getting better.

How people get hit on official crossings beats me, though I expect it in Spain: there appears to be no law prohibiting parking right up next to a zebra crossing. You drive up behind these parked vehicles and have no idea if a kid, a dog, anything is about to walk out. In effect, as they are blind, they are more dangerous than crossing almost anywhere except on a zebra! On top of this, zebras are also to be found tight up next to roundabouts, causing people to stop quickly before they even drive out of the roundabout. Many cars here have bumps...

That's one area where Britain can hold up its head: you are prohibited from parking close to zebra crossings. There's a regulation distance that I no longer remember, but I think it's clearly shown.

Thanks for the kind words.

We are lucky to stand aside the bed and not in font of a grave. So I guess 2020 started good as it can in given conditions.

Great attitude but I still hope the new year improves for you and your family!
