Mark - the comp, figure/action, and capture are pretty nice. The "lighting" is the main drawback along with lack of contrast and maybe some saturation. You could bring the blacks down and exposure up - along with punching the vibrance a bit and that helps it I think some. Maybe some brush +exposure on figures head/hair a bit.

Hi Brandtb.  I thought a lot about your suggestions while developing this image.  This picture was takern on a gloomy, rainy day.
What you see in this image is pretty much the lighting that existed.  I know that this does not mean it must remain dark and subdued.
My own tastes favor not brightening this sort of lighting.  I will try your suggestions and post the result.

I agree with your views on this matter, Mark. You may not awards because you did not make it pop, but it is very natural looking. Fine image.

I often ask my wife to decide on two versions of an image I create. I deliberately create a 'pop' version and a more subdued understated version. She almost always favors the pop version. The camera club is the same way. Perhaps we have become accustomed to seeing "pop" images in our culture.
