A piece of trivia.  Pretty much all the yellow bananas that we eat are a single variety "Cavendish", but why the name?

Not far from where we live is the ancestral home of the Dukes of Devonshire, Chatsworth House, in whose greenhouses the Cavendish variety was developed in the 19th century.  And Cavendish is the family name of the Dukes of Devonshire.  I love these little snippets that tie us to the past.

Unfortunately, I didn't watch, perhaps because I got hung up on the Internet and didn't notice time drift past. Happens to me now and then, but as the tv sound is lousy right now, both on satellite as via fibre optic, I stick to the iPad and get excellent sound there via the 'phones. I suppose the tv needs fixing, but as it usually serves me only for the news and some BBC4 music on Friday nights, whether I get that clearly or not doesn't much matter: it's all fake anyway or a repeat.

Miss K is one girl I'd love to photograph!
