Just not sure about this - can't put my finger on it, so appreciate thoughts...

I like it.
I would be tempted to crop out some of the left side, which is less interesting than the right and center.
The curving path to the lighthouse is a strong dramatic element, captured nicely.

Thanks Eric

I had thought about this, but I like the rain/snow showers in the distance and the diagonal line in the rocks from the bottom left, so left it as composed in camera.

I would say your foreground is too bright for the background? Once that is brought into balance, perhaps the whole image could benefit from being a tad darker?

In the UK at the moment, we're part-way through the latest series of 'Professional Masterchef'. One of the most frequent mistakes made in earlier rounds (by contestants who are no longer with us) was putting too many ingredients in the dish, leading to confusion on the palate. I think you're falling into that trap. The right-hand half, or just over half, of the image has all that is necessary: a sinuous path, a lighthouse, some lovely light on the distant clouds. You have seen the distant showers and the line, and you want to keep them, but frankly, they're not really noticeable and, when noticed, a distraction. I'd crop just to the left of the small rock in the sea.

As so often, Slobodan has a point, as well.

I agree with you - I think it is lacking the mood I experienced when I was there and this might be why I am not sure about the image.

I see what you mean (but i still wont watch Masterchef  :D ).  My intention was to show the place, not just the lighthouse; but you are right that all the real interest is on the right half of the image.  I wont crop this image (hate doing large crops) but will revisit and try a composition with less ingredients - wont need to wait long, North Wales has plenty of bad weather   :)
