Also, an un-edited landscape composition. I preferred the other but still asking....

Hi Todd, Why did you choose the corner of the house as major vertical instead of the centerline of the liberty statue? (Or even better, the pole on the right side of the statue)

For those who didn’t understand my comment on another picture a few weeks ago: This picture is suffering the same composition flaw but in this image it is much more pronounced.

Lack of knowledge. I can go back and explore that. Thanks for the homework. And I will try to find the post you are referencing from a few weeks ago.

No it isn’t lack of knowledge. It’s a bit experience, feeling and good looking in the view finder. Finding the dominant composition lines.
Something that was helpful to me: look around the viewfinders edges as a final check. That helps to keep the frame clear from unwanted elements, and it also helps to get keep the composition balanced in your frame.
And don’t let you tell that compositions lines in your finder are only for amateurs and beginners, ...
I just replaced my standard matglas one my Pentax 645z for one with vertical and horizontal lines.....

Be happy that you got the shot before the Trump people came and knocked over the statue.

AH!  MY take-a-way from your comment is that I did not even walk far enough up to look at it from that angle! I stopped investigating when I assumed I had found what I wanted. I thought the jumble of lines, off-kilter perspective, fallen banner, and wide angle distortion all created what I felt and later named "Liberty is Complicated". Because it is possible, I am going to return at some point and shoot it the way you suggested. Thanks t

Actually, it is your people that are known for knocking over quite a number of statues.
