Gimbal Stabilizer for a iphone
« on: November 27, 2019, 12:36:08 pm »

Any one have experience or recommendations for a 3-axis Gimbal Stabilizer for an iPhone. There seems to be a lot of them out there.

Thank You, mburke & dbolt for you replies to my earlier posting about a Bluetooth Remote.

10 different options:

My favorite (although I haven't tried the others):
The newer DJI Osmo Mobile 3, it's compact, has great battery life, and the price is very attractive as well.

I had the Osmo 1 and was considering upgrading to the model 2.
Then model 3 was launched for an attractive price.

I don't regret the upgrade.

Compactness offers exactly the same benefit as the difference between a camera you have with you versus one you left at home.
There is hardly an excuse to leave it home, so it gets used more.

The USB C charging port makes it more future proof (and requires fewer cables).
The Phone's connector port is not obstructed when in use, so the camera can be charged while in use, or an external microphone can be connected.

The stabilization is great, and the automatic subject following is quite good, also in front of busy backgrounds. It's a mature product, with many clever options.

Cheers,
Bart

Zhiyun Smooth 4 was my choice. Mostly because I was in a rush and the store had it on special. I’m happy with it. Simple to operate

The killer feature for me is it’s integration with filmic. You can zoom and focus and  and access various filmic settings from the gimbal when shooting with the filmic app.

Yes, that Zhiyun also seems like a nice and compact choice. The integration with the Filmic app is a plus. I hope the integration with the DJI Mobile 3 doesn't take too long to achieve.

Here is another review of the DJI, with some critical notes as well. It is always good to be prepared if one has specific 'must have' requirements.
