Any Suggestions About using XPAN lenses on the X1D

  My main interest would be the Xpan 90mm lens and the adaptor and manual Focusing. I would mainly use it for Portraits indoors and outdoors and possibly on a tripod. Just dont want to buy this and have to sell it if its too much of a hassle, Thanks

As per the other post, E shutter is useless in a studio. Only OK for landscapes.

With continuous lighting in the studio an E shutter will be fine. No?

No, not really.
If you are shooting fruit with your camera on a tripod then maybe.
The E shutter takes 300mS to scan. So any movement by camera or subject in that 1/3 Sec will show.
Even if everything is still then if the lights are mains powered or have any flicker then it will show as bands.

Seriously, if you can afford the camera then buy a Hasselblad XCD or HC lens. You can get an HC80 for less than $1000.
They made adapters so that people with an exisiting lens stock could use them. IMO at least, it is crazy to go out and buy these old lenses to use on a camera for which you paid the price of a small car. There are a lot of second hand lenses now too.
