Hasselblad XCD 45 vs 65 for 1/2 and 3/4 Length portraits

I would like to use the 45 but will there be any distortion using it for 1/2 and 3/4 length portraits?  I know the 65 would be ideal but I want to try the 45. Anyone can add light on this. Greatly appreciated    Dennis

You always use the longest you can but space dictates what you can use. I attach a Kipon adaptor and use a Canon zoom to figure out what I could use. In a large bedroom (6m) I could use a 65 if I had one, allowing separation from the backdrop. I have ordered a 45 but it will be December before I get it. So I guess its the X1D with 90 for what works and the Canon for the rest.

Use / buy the longer lens unless you're shooting in a closet.

I did a model portfolio yesterday so it was a good time the test my lenses for coverage.
I used the XCD90 for everything. (It was the only lens I had).
I could just take a full length shot in a 6m room if she stepped back. The model was not very tall though.
3/4 was no problem.
A 65mm should have no trouble at all for full length.
The 45 should be fine if you stay back and just crop the image. 50MP is plenty to play with.

  Any chance of seeing some of the pictures you did with the 3 lenses?  I might have to sell the 45 and get the 65  Not sure about the 90 I have not seen anything with the 90    Thank you. I do appreciate  it   Dennis

Mate, as I said, I used the XCD90 for everything, as it was the only lens I had.
I was able to do a full length on a short model but only just. A 65 would have been handy.
However head and shoulder shots I had to crop in. A longer lens would be better.

I suggest that you use a Canon or similar zoom with an adaptor and just read off what you need.
Camera stuff is too expensive to keep on buying.

(Modified) - I am just going to summarise in case there is confusion.
For nearly all of the shots I took the 90 was fine, in fact it was too short and I had to crop the images in post.
For a couple of images a shorter lens (45, 65, a zoom, maybe 80) would have been useful.
You make do with what you have.

I just meant that is a way to test what focal length you need. I don't recommend buying anything that you don't actually need and E shutter is useless for studio work.
