IPF PRO 4000 New Driver Problem
« on: November 06, 2019, 10:26:09 am »

I updated the printer driver on my Mac and am now the driver is missing my custom papers.

The Canon Printer Utility seems to no longer have the drop down for Media Information that would update the papers in the driver from the Media Configuration Tool.

The only items left in the drop down are Cleaning and Accounting.

Anyone else with a similar setup and problem?

It might be possible that you have installed the "lightweight" driver. Perhaps it's named something like airprint (I don't recall exactly). Double check it's _not_ this "airprint" driver. Hope it could be the solution.

Canon doesn't do the same process that Epson does with AirPrint since Canon doesn't have their own mobile devices like iPhone or iPad.  That's what the AirPrint feature is technically for.  It's a simple installation and maybe something was changed on the new version of the MCT.  You may want to contact Canon about it unless you haven't restarted the computer for it up update completely.

Attached you see what I mean. Make sure you don't select the AirPrint version of the driver.

Do you have an Epson installed on your computer by chance?

AirPrint driver was not loaded and no Epson printers here.

The drop down I'm referring to appears as part of Options & Supplies when selecting the printer in the Printer & Scanners system preference. The Utility section would allow you to Open Printer Utility which would the allow you to update the custom paper.

Solved to some degree.
Apparently a network issue that prevents some, but not all back and forth communication between the printer and computer.
A direct connection with USB is a work around.
