The cameras were an Exakta Varex 11a and a Rolleiflex TLR. Both went as soon as I could afford to get into Nikon F and Hasselblad 500C and CM. On the Exakta, I used a 135mm Tele-Xenar pre-set and a 2.8/50mm Tessar, I think it was. I bought the 135mm first because I loved longer lenses. (Amazing how greatly convenient - and fast - the advent of automatically stopping down lenses made photography. Nowadays, nobody thinks of the earlier ways very much - if at all.)
The BB negs that I have are the ones on 135 format, and I have no idea where the 6x6 ones went: perhaps they migrated ahead of me to the netherworld of lost souls - but that can't be right: if it were, I'd have them to hand right now and could copy, and thus avoid scanning them, whereas I can do neither.
It's funny how the dead Marilyn is still doing so much for photographers, even the late Bert Stern is forever tied to her "last sitting" story. I think it's an object lesson in how, at a certain level, the subject is so much more important to the value/success of any picture than the photographer, however much fame he or she themselves manage to gain in their lives. The photography may be wonderful, but in the public eye, and perhaps rightly so - it's the subject. Which in the end, is the purpose of those shoots.
