Moonbath
« on: September 27, 2019, 01:33:37 am »

Just got back from a trip to the Yukon. Boy did I learn some lessons on preparedness. I've always been mostly a minimalist ultralight hiker... "the weight goes down the fun goes up" the saying goes. That being said there's just no room for lack of the right gear for the conditions. I was expecting snow/cold, but not torrential rain. My single wall tent was simply insufficient and after a couple days in the back country we started getting wet. Then it dumped wet snow...and began to freeze. Had I been more prepared I'm sure I'd have some beautiful fresh snow shots from this trip. Instead, we pulled out. Mistakes can be deadly in those conditions.

Sounds a narrow escape. At least you had time for a decent photo as you left!

On the phone last night it looked like there is an ancient sculpture on the bottom of the lake, today I don't see it anymore. Still, a cool shot!

Was the condensation the problem or did the tent wet through? I know some of the BD single wall winter tents are not particularly waterproof.
