Dancing Derwisj
« on: September 21, 2019, 11:48:54 am »

Normally I don’t raise my camera for street performance. It’s most of the time utterly boring photography.
I made an exception for this dancing Derwisj.

😳

Good idea, Ivo. I agree.

The mixed reactions of the viewers add a lot to the image.

The mixed reactions of the viewers add a lot to the image.

Just watched an arts programme on france24.com that dealt with the annual book fair they hold in Paris. Turns out there is a book influencer presence on the Internet too, and they filmed people standing before a table littered with new books (of which there are fewer this year), cellphone in hand, consulting the blessed thing... you could not make it up if you are over fifteen years of age.

You'd be forgiven for imagining that anyone bright enough to be able to read or to navigate a modern cellphone could make that kind of decision for themselves. Like Cameron and Brexit, though, it payeth not to overestimate your audience's intelligence. There, I got that in!

Nice shot. The dancer's expression makes me think if he's wondering 'Why am I doing this and am I going to make any money off of it?"

His next thought was: and these people stop to watch me spin round and round. They need to see a friggin' spin doctor.

Actually, a Derwisj is a Sufi clergyman and collecting the heavenly love with his hand upwards and spreading it with his hand downwards.
