"The Swartland"
« on: August 29, 2019, 05:50:34 am »

The Swartland - or "Blackland" derived it's name from the natural vegetation, the "Renosterbos" (Rhinoceros Bush), which used to turn black in summer.

As can be seen, the Renosterbos has made way for wheat, canola (rapeseed) and grapes.

The Swartland is now best-known for the wine that is made here and, last year, local winemaker Andrea Mullineux was named Wine Enthusiast’s 2016 International Winemaker of the Year.
(If you are keen on wines, check out: Sadie Family Wines, Mullineux & Leeu, A.A. Badenhorst and Porseleinberg..)

A wonderful place to live!

If you look closely, you will see Cape Town's Table Mountain slightly centre-left at the back...

Beautiful. Reminiscent of Kevin's Palouse photos.
