This long-dead tree in a salt marsh on the NC coast seemed to beg for B&W.

Looks like a diving pterodactyl!

Well seen.

WOW
How did you process that to enhance the "pop"  ?
What lens and body ?

Nikon Z7, 70-200 F4 with the FTZ adapter, at 200mm and F4. I did use a brush to select the background tree (I just looked to see what I did and the selection wasn’t even that precise) and decrease the brightness/sharpness/clarity.

i am curious as to how the lens performed without the additional help. Would you post the minimally processed version, please ?

I'm attaching the version is seen by default by LR. The Nikon version is slightly under exposed by design as I wanted to keep the ISO at 640 and increase the exposure in post.

Also I shot another version today with a Fuji X-T2 with the 90mm @ F2 that I'm attaching without any processing.

Keep in mind I knew how I wanted to make this look before I pressed the shutter.

A very fine set. I like the second one, with the curved bottom a lot but the mist in the first one is also excellent.
