Looking for a compact...
« on: August 24, 2019, 05:15:36 am »

I am looking for a compact, to always have with you and not to regret too much reflex camera or mirror less. Can the new Sony RX 100 VII be the right choice?

Many think the #3 version is optimum. I was going for one, but bought a DXO One first—both use “1"” chips.

Don't know about the Sony, but the DXO One is dirt cheap (about $100 now), miniscule, shoots raw, and very fun to use.  For an extra $40 you can get a housing for SCUBA diving.  No image stabilization; not recommended for video.  Fixed 24mm equivalent.  Admittedly a different animal.

I had recently purchased this from Office Supplies Coupons, the actual amount was not in my right now but they charged a very budget-friendly amount for this, so I suggest you the same if you still searching for the compact.

I love my RX100iv  It only has a 24-70mm range while the VII goes to 200mm.  But I believe you lose the neutral density filter with the later models.
Also, the earlier models are brighter lenses.  Great camera to keep in your pocket.  1" sensor good to playback slide shows on my 75" TV look great.
Here are some of my shots with my RX100iv
