Same old Epson 3880 sob story
« on: August 16, 2019, 12:10:03 pm »

My beloved Epson 3880 now has its first terrible nozzle clog. I made a print and the yellows were way off, then did a nozzle check and the yellow is completely missing. Epson Utility shows the cartridge to be over 50% full. Five  regular "cleans" to no effect. Then a power clean to no effect. Before I throw in the towel and replace it, my question is could cleaning the print head using Toolman's paper towel technique help? Any other suggestions?

A head cleaning using the folded paper towel technique and cleaning liquid did the trick. All is well.

Can you elaborate on the Toolman technique?

Can you elaborate on the Toolman technique?

Toolman has a channel on Youtube for printer enthusiasts. On one of the videos he shows how to clear a stubborn clog with a lint free cloth and a Windex/alcohol mix. I worked for me as well in the past but I often had to leave it in place overnight to clear everything
