Camera Raw updating process version without asking
« on: August 15, 2019, 03:48:55 pm »

An unusual problem I’ve been working on.  I have an old image where I’ve embedded the Lightroom modified raw file into Photoshop as a smart object.  If I open the smart object to edit it, there is an obvious density change, and the sliders have no adjustments.  Looking at the same file in Lightroom lots of adjustments.  As it turns out, the original file was using process version 1.

In ACR, it automatically converted the file to process 5 without warning.  I thought ACR had a little exclamation that alerted you to an older process was being used, and you could click it to update.  now it seems it just updates it to the current version without asking.

So far the only way I’ve found it to resolve it is to go back to LR, figure out what process version was used on the original raw conversion, and then manually change that when editing the smart object in ACR. (assuming you actually realized it did this)

Is there something I’m missing?
