Amazing clouds.

Perfect framing to my taste.

Scott  - pretty great subject! Couple of things. There "appear" to be  some significant areas of "color noise"/artifacts (magenta/viridian) in the cliffs left and right? I would liked to have seen a bit more of the green grass foreground for slightly more gradual transition to talus field in midground... maybe. /B

Amazing and frightening....

I'd like to see a b&w version, however. It would eliminate the postcardish impression that is somehow at odds with the scary nature of the rolling clouds.

Many thanks, folks. This location is regularly interesting but that day was special.

Slobodan: I thought the green grass and blue sky helped to enhance the centre darkness. I'll try b&w soon.

Brandt: Yes, there are a bunch of artifacts as I am travelling and working on an iPad. I like Snapseed a lot, but it has its limits. I'll redo this when I'm home.

It is a remarkable scene. However, it needs a little tonal balancing work, in my view, to take the focus away from the bright top and centre it lower.

I saw this phenomena once come across a pass in the Cascades and it was really awesome. Fortunately, you had a camera as unfortunately, I did not. Great shot!
