Murals with Canon Pro4000
« on: August 08, 2019, 05:10:27 pm »

Is there a way to do this without trimming 8+ foots tiles? I have a 44" canon adhesive vinyl roll, what would be the best solution for a 8x10 mural? Can Qimage or other software can help me with this as well? Borderless printing extend the edge, could I include a white edge to "trick" the borderless printing?

Since the drivers will allow borderless printing on rolls (only), you would have the option in the software to select borderless when choosing the roll.  It's not available for all sizes though, so just need to make sure the roll you have (or getting) will work.  I'm not familiar with Qimage, but that, ImagePrint or EFI should work.  Download Canon's "Professional Print and Layout" from their site (free to use) as it may work just as well.  It's only available for the Pro series printers though.

Canon's 44" borderless printing rolls:
Borderless Printing Width
10, 14, 17, B2 (20.3/515 mm), A1 (23.4/594mm), A0 (33.11841mm), 24, 36, B0 (40.6/1,030mm), 42,44

QImage. Can download a free trial with watermark. It’s a fraction of the cost of imageprint.

My issue isnt borderless printing by itself, its how could I make bordeless tiles that could align up together.

One way might be to size the image slightly smaller than the 44" roll height - eg 43.9" - and add .05" white canvas to image top and bottom as as a starting point for a short test print...

Hi,

Qimage can do the tiling automatically (in Poster mode) when a selected output-size exceeds the printable area of the output medium.

Cheers,

Can it do so in borderless mode as well ? Sadly Its not available on mac and Qimage One seems to lack that feature.

You can probably do that layout with borderless printing in ImagePrint.  You can check with them directly here.

Otherwise, download Canon's Professional Print & Layout "RIP" tool and see if it works.  It's free!

Yea, if the Canon Plugin doesn’t work save a fortune and use QImage and Windows on a Mac.
