I'd love to read it, Rob, but the NYT puts a block on it and wants me to give them my email address before I can view the thing. I'm not about to give the NYT my email address.

On the other hand, I have a bunch of Garry's stuff. He's one of my favorites.

Interesting reading and photos.  I've always enjoyed Garry Winogrand's photos.  Sadly, I missed a nearby exhibit with his photos some two years ago.  Thanks for the link, Rob.

I went back in today and surprisingly the block was gone. I ran through the whole thing, and ended up not being able to slap my hand away from ordering a copy of the book from Amazon. Winogrand was unique. Gotta have this book.

Two months ago our local PBS station had a nice 90 minute documentary on Winogrand as part of the American Masters series.  You might check your local station's schedule to see if it will be aired again.  It might also be available for streaming or on demand via your cable outlet.  It was really well done.

I've now had a chance to go through the book, look at all the pictures and read a few of Goeff Dyers's essays. I love Winogrand's work, but the reproductions in the book -- on soft paper -- leave something to be desired, especially the blacks. Color comes off a bit better. As far as Dyer's essays are concerned, he's doing his best to sound profound, but he simply doesn't have what it takes to be profound.
