I've now had a chance to go through the book, look at all the pictures and read a few of Goeff Dyers's essays. I love Winogrand's work, but the reproductions in the book -- on soft paper -- leave something to be desired, especially the blacks. Color comes off a bit better. As far as Dyer's essays are concerned, he's doing his best to sound profound, but he simply doesn't have what it takes to be profound.
