Hi Vieri,

Thanks for a good excellent test! The XCD 90/3.2 should be blistering sharp across the field according to the MTF data, which your test illustrates well.

It is a bit to sharp as it shows pretty severe aliasing

So, it would be well served by the 100 MP 44x33 mm sensor Sony has. Hopefully Hasselblad will have a version of the X#D with that sensor!

Best regards

Hey Shawn, glad your use confirms my findings, and to hear that you love the lens! :)

Hello Erik,

You are welcome, glad you enjoyed the read :) Yes, the lenses I reviewed so far showed that Hasselblad has been pretty honest in their MTF data, which makes me hope that the zoom will be simply incredible (assuming the zoom's MTF will be as honest).

The lens definitely over-resolve the sensor, no question about it. I didn't do anything to the files to make them look good, what you see is what came out of the camera with just a bit of sharpening in CameraRaw (50, 0.8 radius) and, of course, the Jpg artefacts \ halos that I didn't clean after creating the Jpgs for the website.

I think that pretty much all XCD lenses I tested so far will shine on a 100 MP sensor, and I hope Hasselblad will oblige at some point (next year, perhaps?) ;)

Best regards,

I was just looking at a Fuji group and the 50S and R are seeing a lot of love. There is still plenty of life in the 50Mp sensor in the X1D, shutter delay issues though are a problem.

Did you try processing them in Phocus?
If they come out with a 100MP X1D then I might still want a 50MP. 150MB per shot is probably more file than I need for most things and would just slow things down.

No, but that wouldn't fix the Jog halos, the ones that are created when you export as Jpg.

I definitely see your point re: 50MP being more than enough for most applications. While Landscape is one application that always benefits from extra resolution, and therefore I wouldn't mind the extra MP myself, I hope that when the X2D with 100MP will come out, it will offer something more than just MP... we'll see ;)
