Postcards From Florida
« on: July 19, 2019, 09:43:03 am »

Had to get up early to take my daughter to the airport. Stopped by the Dania Beach on my way back. Classic Florida.

That is absolutely classic. I had forgotten those mornings. Lived in Broward county for 6 months. I used to cycle to work at a pro photo lab.

A good set. Took me back 25 years. Evocative.

As you're probably pointing eastwards, then WW3 must have begun.

There were similar cloud patterns in the Bahamas, which is hardly surprising. Never seen the type here, but then I don't get up that early...

Good colours as seen on the iPad, though I recently noticed that some black/white stuff looked better on the monitor, which was certainly a change of mind for me. Can't win, with electronics.

The balance of color/saturation here is nice.

Very nice. Living in the mountains, I miss the horizon.

Nice images.  I can't put my finger on it, but I feel like there's something different about sunrise vs. sunset color and tone.  (Personally I much prefer results I get in the morning.)

There certainly is. For a while, location shoots saw me getting up at sparrow fart in order to catch low, horizontalish light. Eventually though, I realised I was just making myself and everybody else short-tempered. The difference is colour: dawn+ is cooler, whereas sunset has seen the dust of the day brought up into the air by heat colouring the air yellowish, which when sunlight filters through it, is much prettier on skin.

Stands to reason, I suppose. Cold night air falls, and with it the dirt of the day. I wish I had twigged earlier.

It's usually calmer in the morning before the sun causes the wind to pick up.

That's not imagined, it is true. At the end of the day, there are more aerosols in the air, so light gets scattered more instead of being refracted.

Both can deliver fine scenes to photograph with potentially different cloud formations, but to me sunrises are special.

Cheers,
Bart

Very nice set. Even the iPhone one.

Especially the iPhone one.  :)

Makes me nostalgic for south Florida. I lived there many, many sunrises ago.
