Rembrandt in 360

There's apparently been an initiative to recreate in photography Rembrandt's most quintessential painting. With a twist though, as they also fantasised how the scene would have looked from behind the gate. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a useful english link, but this link gives a good summary in pictures:

That's an interesting site, Oscar. What is it actually about - is it a studio's website and promo or some kind of cultural production they have been commissioned to do?

The site is a promotional site for the exposition where one can also purchase prints of various sizes. For some reason the search for models was more interesting than the why of the project, because I can't find the background on this. The models were plucked from the street to ensure everyday faces that require the least amount of make-up. The final images are apparently extremely high res according to the articles.

The photographer's website is here, the more interesting link is "commercial" as far as I can tell. There may even be boobs there, although I didn't bother to check because I find that website's navigation next to impossible, to the point that even boobs can't entice me to try...

Good grief! That must be some seriously bad design!

I thought that the matching of the real faces to the painting's faces was very clever indeed. Of course I am taking the "before" pix at - face - value, and in the trust that they have not been manipulated to closer resemble the targets.

A fascinating project.
It would seem likely to cost almost as much as buying a real Rembrandt to create this version.
