Enjoyed both. They evoke a sense of place.

Thanks to all.

For me they evoke a lack of place. The second is a community hall, once used for dances, dinners and celebrations. Standing there now, scanning the horizon, not a single farm is in sight.

I like the first one.  I'm a sucker for clouds.  Do you make all of your BW conversions in Lightroom?

Thanks, Hugh. I use Silver Efex.

I need to work on that halo in #2.

I like the images very much. I too, love the name of the town.

I really love the second one. The house looks to be in a very rough environment and with the curved grass blades, it must be windy all the time.
Bravo (also for the B&W process)!

Yes, Francois, that's wind, probably abetted by dense wind-driven snow.

Thanks to all for your feedback.

Nice. What's the object in the first one?

Thanks, Alan. It's a building foundation. What's left of settlement in those tracts.

Strange building.  Was it round?  What was its function?

Good question. I thought it was a house foundation, but it looks very substantial. Wikipedia says there were three grain elevators there, and it might have been an elevator.

It's amazing how communities have been erased.
