there are 10 times as many wacko Republicans than members of The Squad. These are the ones along with the President that the Dems ran against two years ago and it will make much more of difference than the marginal four who only have the power of Twitter and no significant power in the Congress at this point in time. When you also start looking at some of the new abortion laws in the South passed mainly by older men, women are not terribly happy with the Republican party these days. President Trump will always have his 40 percenters but can he pick up any more votes than that? This is the question that the election will answer.
No Alan, they have the power of the press, and the press just loves writing about them.
Name me one wacko Republican that is getting as much air time as AOC or the others. There isn't any. I mean Hollywood even produced a documentary on AOC in her first year in congress. Because of their immense press coverage they have become the face of the party. Pelosi was trying to do the right thing last week calling them out, which was a move supported by polling of swing voters. But Trump's tweets pretty much stopped her in her tracks, and now she is defending them.
Like I said before, I am not condoning his tweets, only that instead of the leader showing that the Dems are not the party of radicals, she is now marketing the Dems as the party that embraces radicals.
Insofar as the topic of abortion, although I am pro-choice, I can't ignore the polling on this either in how it effects my opinion of which party has the advantage. Most Americans are against late term abortions. I can't see how this helps the Dems considering some of the laws past up North. Best case, the open for business late term abortion laws rile up the conservatives just as much as some of the oppressive down South abortion restrictions rile up progressives and cancel each other out. Although I still feel the evangelicals are a lot more enthusiastic for pro-life then progressives are for being pro-choice.
