High Sierra Triptych
« on: June 18, 2019, 04:37:06 pm »

I needed to leave the studio behind and away from the bars...of the cell phone. The clouds were so beckoning to the east, just short of the crest of the Sierra, yet the time was late, after 4 pm by the time I could leave my engagements and errands behind. However, it was just an hour away to drive and by 10 pm I was home. Happy, content, images on the XQD. As I downloaded, my head hit the keyboard, once, twice and so I crawled into bed.

This morning, this is a small section presented as a triptych, in-camera b&w with just a little burning and dodging for fine-tuning.

It's a fine trio of images. I can't help feeling that I'd prefer it if the left and right were switched, though. There's something about the tree leaning outwards and the clouds sloping outwards that makes me uncomfortable. Maybe that was the idea.

Love the third image on the right, which to my mind is the standout image of the set.

In fact I would detach it from the other two completely and print it on its own.

Larry, I agree with Dave.  I think the third image is great.

A wonderfully productive evening. The triptych works, as do all the suggestions provided which says a lot about the potential you opened up with these. Nicely done!

Thanks for the kind comments, all! On my FB page, I have them posted individually along with a broader selection, including of one of the wildflower-covered hills that's the best I've seen in many years of visiting this area.

If the clouds cooperate next week, I'm off again to get away from most of the connections to the rest of the world.
