High water and iris

The water has been on the rise for a while now and I had to drive through some flood waters to get here last night. But I'm glad I did for this sunset.
I may need to wear the waders on my next visit!

Very nice! I keep thinking that a little more light on those irises (maybe the sunrise, or earlier during sunset) might be even better.

Thanks. I understand what you mean. The compromise here is sky vs. foreground and the sky is more likely to be better later while the foreground would more likely be better earlier. I think in this case the sky was worth letting the iris be a little darker.
I've been back once since I shot this and will probably return another time or two while the flowers are out and I'll try to get all them as many different way as I can.

If it was me I'd be down in the flowers with a 17 mm lens. But then you'd miss the fine river.

I considered that kind of shot too. Maybe with waders but the whole area is wet so I didn't quite take it to that level of commitment.

To make it absolutely perfect, one might consider removing the remains of the contrail(s) but it's fine even with them.

Feels like you opened up the shadows all the way, and brought down the highlights to handle the dynamic range. Gives it an HDRish look. Might be better managed by cross processing for lights, and darks, then using a luminosity mask to blend them? I couldn't do that without the raw, but I took some creative liberties with the light...

Thanks, this is actually a HDR but I'm trying to not make it look like one. DR was pretty extreme!
Working on a better edit so I can print it...
