I have a son who lives in Redmond and we've been going out to WA twice a year to visit.  Two months ago we drove through the Palouse Falls area.  Once out of the Scab Lands (which I loved!) I really didn't see much that I don't see driving in Nebraska and the Dakotas.  Maybe the Palouse is just closer to a bigger concentration of people and thus is better known?
