That brings back memories. I spoke at a conference on computers in cardiac surgery in Erice, at the Ettore Majorana centre, in about 1990 and remember the place very fondly. Cobbled streets, gas lamps, swirling mists, lots of alcohol - I imagine it's changed a bit (perhaps not the alcohol).

Think that the medieval town of Erice is a very special place, the best thing is to get there by cable car. It is also a joy for the palate, excellent food and wine and unique Sicilian sweets....
