Spectra Sensor Pro with other monitor?
« on: May 21, 2019, 01:09:18 pm »

I've been using Spectraview on an NEC P-22 for a few years and have really enjoyed the ease of use.
I came across a "too good to pass up" deal on a Dell 32" 4K U3219Q Monitor.
I don't suppose there is any software I can use with that monitor and use the X-Rite Spectra Sensor pro puck is there?

(I've been so happy with the above that I have not needed to keep up with all the latest packages available, so please forgive my ignorance.)

If not then, what is the best reasonably priced hardware/software combination to calibrate & profile it?
This is strictly for use to view images, there is no need for a system that would also profile printers, etc.
This is supposed to be a sRGB gamut monitor and that is all I want, so if there are hardware/software packages that have special abilities for wide-gamut displays,
I don't need that either.

TIA,

Charles

Hi Andrew-I was hoping you would chance by here. You have helped me numerous times ever since the early nineties and the old Rob Galbraith forum days.
Thank you for steering me to Display Cal. When I asked about software to allow me to use the X-Rite device on other monitors, I really wasn't expecting a positive answer.
I have downloaded and run it on the P22 and can't wait for the Dell to get here tomorrow!

So thanks again for your knowledge and generosity. I will make a contribution to Display Cal with great delight.

One other question, do you know if it would be possible for me to send in the puck to X-Rite to have them check it out to see if it is still within specs?
(I've read here that the filter(s) can age and change color.)

Thanks again,
Charles

Should be possible but I expect it will be expensive. Better and likely less expensive to replace it with an i1Pro Display.
