Pro-2000, Canon Fine Art Bright White - Bumps/dents
« on: May 12, 2019, 11:30:41 am »

Hi,

I purchased a roll of Canon Fine Art Bright White (matte), 230 gsm 24' roll and after printing with it, it had dents every few inches in the roll.  I sent it back to B&H and received another roll (this is over a course of a month or two).  I am having the same issue with this paper.  I'm beginning to suspect that it may not be the paper, but somehow connected to my printer, although it seems to only happen with this paper. Has anyone experienced this before??? What do you think it is? Thanks!

Some thoughts:

When the paper is loaded advance it (tap on 'roll' --> tap on "feed/cut' --> tap and hold down "advance") and inspect it to see if the bumps/dents are there before printing it.

If they are not there execute feed adjustment on the paper.

Another thing to try is to print with a slow speed by selecting highest quality setting and unidirectional printing is case an increased printing speed causes the dents  to the paper.

Judy,

I would check the lot # from the boxes as it may be a bad batch.  Normally, if you have bumps/dents in media, it's either from production or during shipping (unfortunately).  The manufacturer can't detect all defects in the media since it's going pretty quick through the machine making it, but the lot # with the issue is helpful so the distributor/manufacturer can check the rest of the inventory of that problem and hopefully remove so others don't get it.

Maybe check with another source or provide the vendor with the batch # to see if they have the same inventory.  It very well could be the media itself if it's happened on the replacement.
