I wouldn't enjoy playing croquet on that "lawn". The hoop placement is unconventional, too.

I wouldn't enjoy playing croquet on ANY lawn, Jeremy, but this picture had a slightly ominous feel to me.

Interesting light. As for ominous, probably alligators lurking.

Alligators playing croquet? I'd like to see a picture of that.

It's a wonderful game, Russ. Strategy, tactics and skill combine with excellent opportunities for malevolence. Add fresh air and Pimms - what more could you want? There are photographs of me playing croquet on the lawns in front of one of my college's more photogenic buildings, in ancient photo albums all over the world.

Jeremy

I assume that you play croquet with flamingos, not alligators.
I've read about that in a book about some "Alice" once
Isn't that a game for ladies?

Just a little joke

You're probably right, Jeremy. I remember playing the game occasionally when I was a teenager. At my age it might be a better bet than tennis or racquetball.

Russ, it has a touch of the Ivo about it.

I like it.

Thanks, Keith. And, based on your comment, it's clear you see the ominousness.

Well, I'm a fan of ominousness and Ivo.

Flamingos are for the ladies. Gentlemen (like Jeremy) should use alligators.
But I understand that in parts of the world where alligators are in short supply (such as England), both sexes use wooden mallets. And wooden balls are used when hedgehogs are scarce.
