My Pro1000 has been showing low ink warning on all cartridges for the last 100+ 8x11 prints.
The inks were originally at 50% and dropped to the warning level (10%?) after about 250 full letter pages.
Had to replace the waste bucket about 50 pages ago but the darned thing keeps printing.
Is this normal? Perhaps they filled the cartridges more than was indicated. Very weird.
Just to make sure you're aware--assuming the Pro-100's warnings are similar, which I believe they are--Canon has two different low ink warnings, examples of which are attached to this post. The first one is a yellow circle with a black exclamation point, it says the "ink tank is running low", and IMO it basically means, 'Hey, you probably want to get a replacement ink cartridge to have on hand.' The second one has a red circle with a white X, it says the "ink may have run out," and it basically means, 'I'm getting close to running out of ink. You can probably make a couple more prints, but remember that I have a thermal head, and if they ink actually goes dry, you might burn it out.' My practice with the Pro-100 is wait for the second warning, and then finish the print requested or in progress, but immediately change the cartridge after that. The cartridge removed still has a little ink, but I'd rather sometimes waste 5% or 10% or whatever of the ink than risk the head. But we have a network-shared printer, and if you are the only user of your printer, with experience you can probably run somewhat longer.
