Oldies
« on: April 29, 2019, 10:01:08 pm »

All these talk about wide zooms made me go back and process some of older photos shot with a Fuji 10-24, that maybe got less love than they deserve. Yes, the corners are not perfect but at F8 they are good enough.

I don't know how they would hold up in mural-sized prints, but on my PC's screen they all look great.

This is a very nice set and I'm really drawn into the third one with the fog masking the cliffs.

I'm not sure I'll print them, after all I didn't bother processing them until now (well, the last 3, the first one I just tried harder) but I think they would look good enough for up to 24" max size, which is as large as I can print at home.

This is a very nice set and I'm really drawn into the third one with the fog masking the cliffs.

That one was tough to postprocess, the character and luminosity difference between the left upper sky and the right fog was quite large. This is where having good Photoshop skills probably would have helped. I did it all in LR and the transition between those 2 areas required several attempts to get it natural. I also had to crop the upper where I just couldn't recover the blown sun and still make the surroundings look good enough. The idea was to focus on the play between the menacing abyss on the right,  not seen because of the fog but suggested, and the nice trail on the left. Enjoy but make few wrong steps and it's over.

Few more "neglected" shots from the same trip. Some are HDRs made in LR from 3 bracketed shots.

Yes, I plan to spend more time with it to bring it where I want.
