The attached image is the image I use for printing. My previous image was an older file. I agree a bit to purple/magenta. Not sure why I grabbed the wrong file to post. I apologize.

As soon as I saw this image, I thought wow, those colours are a bit up there at the top end of the vividness sliders, but no matter I thought, because I still really like the shot. But then I saw that you had used Velvia and I thought ah yes that's the reason why it's so vivid and I liked the shot even more.

You know everyone struggles to retain some sort of resemblance to reality in the colours of their images, because with modern processing tools, it is just to easy to get carried away. But once you stick a roll of Velvia in to a film camera, then hang the reality and it becomes all about colours that are so deep, luscious and warm, that it becomes quite difficult not to get swept along with them.

In fact you know what, if I was a film shooter now, then I would definitely be having myself a very deep and lasting relationship with Velvia.

Thanks for the feedback on this image. Velvia is a beautiful film. I still have 150 rolls of 120 in my freezer. Expose it correctly and its stunning. However, only 6 or 7 stops of dynamic range, reciprocity issues, locked up shadows and on it goes. My current setup using a Phase One IQ4 150 camera beats film in numerous ways.

The lichen on these rocks is very vivid. Google northeast Tasmania rocks and you will get a sense for it. Given that, the image is matched to the film and than I actually took some saturation out of the image when I printed it. It was just to much for the inkset and for what I wanted.
