I don't think it's right to try to corporately commercialise this environment. I think you've been told before not to do this.

The post is in the "for sale" section. I have no problem with it.

Agreed but since the sale is over, should the post remain?

I might be mistaken, but I think that plugsnpixels was posting as a private citizen, not a rep for Topaz and I think that the post was an appropriate reminder that the sale was expiring and interested forum members should place their orders if interested. I got the program as a free upgrade to Topaz Infocus and would recommend the newer program to those users who have the appropriate hardware.

Regards,

Bill

I thought plugnpixels was Topaz, and his posts were just advertising. That's how every post strikes me. Not sure why any of them are allowed.

You mean that all posts that are no longer relevant should be deleted or just this one?  Kind of selective if that's the case.

No, I mean this one, specifically.

I don't believe that to be the case. His own site contains links to various software companies, including ON and Skylum.

The quote below right off his site. Is he selling, sure. When you get a commission you are a salesman for those products wheather you actually work for the company or not. Do I have a problem with that, not so much. It is informational to the group but a line still has to be drawn in the sand somewhere. I don’t think I have ever mentioned my workshops for fear of being shamed by others. Just doesn’t feel right.
All to be determined by someone with a higher pay grade then mine.

“Since that time I have developed friendships with many developers large and small, and strive to provide my visitors with useful information about their products and any available discounts. Your purchase of any of these plug-ins or apps helps support my efforts through small referral commissions and keeps access to this site free, with no registration required”

Hi Dan,

While I understand the feeling, it's hard to draw a line, and it requires additional work for the moderators.

I also notice people offering used cameras, lenses, and what have you, with a frequency and quantities that suggest it's more than a garage sale. And few other posts are made by those individuals to benefit the LuLa community.

I don't really care, other than having to mark those posts as "Read" so they don't clutter the list of "Unread" posts.

The OP, on the other hand, does respond to questions and he offers examples and other information related to Plugins. He also takes questions back to the (in this case Topaz) Beta testing team and brings them under their attention. Sounds like a win-win to me. And who'd object to an additional discount, not me.

Cheers,
Bart

Bart,

I have been advocating for some time a new topic summary for the small business owner that wants to shop their wares. $100 a year pick a number. I could have my little thread to hock my workshops and printing. In no time you have a hundred signed up and that is a Ten Thousand dollar bill just like that for the site. It has to be fair to the advertisers that are paying the big bucks. I don't see that as an issue. Keep it simple, what you are selling, where you are from and a link to your website. 25 words or less.
Just a little something to help us small business owners get out there.

Sorry this is off topic, will have to start a new thread.
