Domke J-series vs F-series
« on: February 28, 2019, 12:45:54 pm »

I already have a canvas Domke F-2. I want to acquire the ballistic nylon equivalent. That would be the F-2B. However, Domke also makes the J-2. The J-2 seems to have an identical layout to the F-2 (unlike the F-1x/J-1, which are different). It's heavier though. So what's the difference, apart from the slightly longer flap (which I like).

Does J-2 have more padding than the F-2? I hate padding. I want the least padding possible, but I like weatherproofing.

Thanks.

I have a water-resistant J-2 for my Pentax 645 system. It came with a four-compartment insert…I ditched the outer part of this but use the inner dividers to make two lens compartments in the bag. The camera with 75mm lens attached plus (typically) 35 & 150mm lenses are a snug but comfortable fit. An alternate lens set is 35, 55 (on the camera) & 120mm. Padding is minimal.
