A beautiful tapestry of winter. Actually, I think this has structure: and it is the vertical trunks that unifies the wonderful tapestry of limbs and snow. One suggestion, the snow is very grey, how about trying to whiten a bit to see how it looks. May work better for you.

Is it a wild pine forest? Or planted?
That makes a big difference in how nice such a forest can by photographed.
In my country, original landscape was ruined to plant pine forest, the wood served as strutting for coal mining. Coal mines are closed but we still have those ugly forests with trees standing in line as it was a Napoleontic  garrison.

A wild forest is beautiful in it’s chaos.

Thanks for the kudos, boys.  I was worried that it might be a little overcooked.  I twirled the Topaz Clarity knobs pretty heavily.

Ivophoto, it's a natural forest, situated on a friend's property nearby. I share your dislike of ordered rows of trees, no matter how efficient it is for later harvest.

I think besides the lovely (and transient!) texture of the snow on the branches, I think it's the arrangement of the trees that's appealing.  Not quite ordered, not quite chaotic.

Like sand, snow is difficult.  Without some grey areas, it lacks detail and interest.

Printed a meter wide, it hangs in my dentist's office.  Very satisfying.

Hi Peter,
I hesitated commenting on this earlier because, although I really liked it, as did others, I felt it seemed not quite right; as you suggest, overcooked. I agree. It seems more like a beautifully, finely detailed charcoal sketch, than it does a photo - and that’s okay. My personal perspective, though, (and the reason for my hesitation) is, if it’s a photograph, it should have photographic qualities, and not ‘pretend’ to be something else (no intention implied). I’m the same way with ‘realistic’ paintings ‘prestending’ to be photographs.

That being said, I do like the image, very much, in fact.

Rendition is absolutely well chosen, appropriate, and very much contributes to its appeal. If you've lived in the pineforest, you know this is an excellent representation of it.
