Yes, this year's winter is truly mild somewhat south of Cologne too.  Migrating birds have returned and I've enjoyed the warm sun on my patio a few times.  Garden plants have begun their growth early as well - hopefully Jack Frost won't return to surprise us.  Once all that snow in the Alps melts, we'll see the Rhine rise, which always scares me.

I'll be spending so time in sunny Italy during the Eisheiligen, hopefully they won't find me.
