Digital Display Technology for Photographs
« on: February 14, 2019, 11:02:50 am »

I have always been frustrated by the disconnect between digital displays (produce light) and prints (reflect light): it is the weak link in my workflow because so many of my prints do not duplicate exactly what I see on my screen unless viewed under ideal conditions. Does anyone know a digital technology that would essentially replace an 8x10 print with a thin, handheld 8x10 digital display (I do not mean wall-mounted displays)?

Probably a 12.9” iPad Pro

If you use Lightroom, Lightroom CC (mobile) app will sync and display your LR collections full screen with great color and clarity.  I use the 10.5” version which measures approx. 6.25” x 8.5”

I can't understand how the use of an alternative digital (emissive) display, regardless of form factor, will help your problem with duplicating what you see in a printed image.  What am I missing?

He is not trying to duplicate what he sees in a printed image, but what is on his screen.

Easy then; use another and similar "screen" (called a display).

Since I do most of my image processing (except when printing) on my iPad, I also use it to display pics. It's a 12.9" Pro.
