printer head alignment

how often does this need to be done? Once a week? Before every printing session?

For Epson's, you should do this if you move/transport the printer. Otherwise once and done.

Generally true, but the manuals usually do point out that if one begins to see deteriorated print quality, doing a head re-alignment could be helpful to remedy it. That said, having been using a succession of these printers for the past 19 years, I have not had to do it beyond the initial one on installation.
