Peter, the ambiance comes through loud and clear. And I may I say, this is one of the few images that I have seen on this site that evokes the caption you created.

Very true.
It is quite silent, but I hear the "tick, tock" of an elderly wall clock, out of the scene to the right, I think.

Love the rendering and the very dark tones to the right are essential to the ambiance.

Just found this: lovely shot - as usual.

But Eric is mistaken: the clock's up the stairs, camera left. You can see the shadows of the sound waves flowing down the wall.
