The Bergman story took place on the volcanic Italian island of Stromboli, where he didn't take a photograph of Bergman and her lover when he could have, and thus he made a friend. It was a good move, that delicate emotional reaction, because from it came a close friendship and access others never had.

Life can reward good intentions, now and then.

Parks took many great photos of musicians, and played piano himself. You can Google them…look for the pic of Edward Ellington seated at a piano, lost in thought with his face reflected in the piano lid.
