iPad pro C1 workflow
« on: January 26, 2019, 02:58:08 pm »

I just picked up a 1TB 12.9 inch ipad pro and so far I am pretty impressed. I hear that photoshop is coming out with a full version for the ios. I wonder if Phase is thinking of doing this with C1.
It would be great to travel even lighter and tethering to an ipad would be really great.

Phase typically does not telegraph future offerings but if you are willing to switch your tablet to a Surface Pro (5th or 6th generation), you will get exactly what you are seeking.

I use the top tier Surface Pro 6 with i7 processor and 16GB of RAM to do exactly what you're seeking to do.

Thanks for the suggestion, Surface pro is a great bit of kit but I am already heavily invested in the apple ecosystem

Yeah that's what I figured but just wanted to make you aware, in case that you weren't already :)

I just purchased the new iPad Pro 12.9" with 1TB RAM, wifi and 5G connectivity.

The import speed using a SD media reader connected to the USB-C port was very fast. Way faster than my experience with previous iPads using the Apple SD to Lightning adapter.

I just purchased the iPad app "RAW Power" writing by the same guy who was on the Apple Aperture time. My initial impression is very good. The native Apple Photos iPad app works well to, but the Photos RAW processing tools are not the best.

It looks like you cannot import directly into Raw Power. I found that I have to import into Photos and place the imported images in a new folder created in Photos. The folder is available inside RAW Power.

I'm a Capture One Pro user, so I'm exploring the best options for reviewing and processing RAW files on the road with my new iPad Pro without having to pay a subscription to Adobe.

Bud James

Affinity Photo for iPad might should be able to do exactly what you want without a subscription - just a one time purchase of $20.

I already own and use Affinity Photo on my Mac and iPad. It's a great app, but I prefer a non destructive RAW processing workflow.
