Thank you.  Very interesting.  Both you and Peter have enough material for a follow up essay on panoramic photography, either from a field photography or from a marketing perspective, using the information in your follow-up posts.

Following our earlier discussion in what situation one would use a long lens for an elongated image, recently I stumbled upon an interesting French website with a detailed depiction of distant large art pieces, such as large stained glass windows, paintings, elaborate building facades and other such images. Apparently, many of those images were taken and stitched with a 600 mm lens.
