Columbia Gorge 2017 fire damage now showing on Google Earth

While most of the Gorge is now open for hiking, access to Oneonta Gorge is still closed. The vegetative cover on the steep slopes above the slot canyon was destroyed, so the danger from falling rock and timber will be high for some time to come. When access is finally allowed, I expect visitors will find the bottom of the canyon littered with mud, rocks, and burned logs.

very sad.  beautiful place, and I loved shooting in Oneonta Gorge.
