Frost Strokes 2
« on: January 06, 2019, 02:51:01 pm »

A few more of my frost efforts.  I suspect these are a bit over sharpened like the last set.  These were all shot hand held.

Another fine set.
I'm jealous, having tried many frost shots...

Slightly, perhaps; but I like them a lot.

Beautiful! The landscape photographer in me especially likes the first as the background tones give a sense of depth. But all three are wonderful.

Maybe it’s because all our windows are double-glazed, but I’ve never seen such ‘perfect’ and seemingly predictable frost on glass. What’s your secret?

I like #3 the most, but they're all neat.

Beautiful!

+1

I used to get beautiful frost on the windows. Then we replaced the drafty, single-paned, ripply-glass buggers. Lovely frost no more.  :'(

Thanks for your comments - all of you.  These were shot on the plexiglass-like walls of our greenhouse. so a single pane.  I've had bad luck with double glazed as well.  For me the hardest thing with these is to isolate good compositions and get lined up parallel with the window to keep things in focus.  I prefer to focus stack these shots but have found that getting the tripod lined up with the good compositions to be a major challenge and quite limiting.  Especially with frozen finger tips.  Using the tripod to rest my arms or elbows kind of works.
