Canon DPP 4.9.20 hangs on launch
« on: January 02, 2019, 08:40:08 pm »

I don't frequently use DPP (I use LR and C1 generally in that order followed my a myriad of other software I dabble in occasionally). Since I rented a Canon EOS a little while ago to see how I liked it (I generally didn't -- but then I don't really like any mirrorless cameras), I wanted to use DPP to play with the files. I know LR now supports the files, but I frankly don't want to import the test images into any catalog.

The problem is that DPP launches part way and then hangs, utilizing only about 8.7MB of memory. The window is frozen so you can't move it around or quit. The only way to quit the app is to force quit it in Task Manager. Does anyone else have that issue? I plan to call Canon CPS tomorrow and bitch, but I wanted to get a picture of whether it's just me or wide-spread. Thanks.

I have a Mac but I thought I'd ask. What version is your OS?

Working OK here on W7 64.

You did download it from Canon using the camera's serial number, yes ?
Did it then install OK ?

I never saw these answers since I forgot to check the "Notify" box.

DPP still crashes right out the gate. The program starts up but before it can fully render the content, it crashes and disappears. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall. Same issue. Canon Tech Support is not terribly helpful on this one. Luckily, I don't need to use it often.
