Replacement casters Z3200?
« on: December 24, 2018, 10:20:58 am »

After a few moves that involved some trips across asphalt the wheels on the z3200 are wrecked. Can you replace the stock casters on the z3200 with off the shelf casters?

they seem to be generic casters, I would remove one and go to home depot or lowes and compare them. You can replace them with roller blade wheels, which i did on all my office chairs but those may not be available with locking mechanism but the roller blade wheels(i get mine on amazon, 5 for $25) roll so smoothly and effortlessly.

Do you know if they are the pop in or screw in type?

Pop in.  Pop one out and go to your favorite hardware store and find something close.  As long as the pop in shaft is the same - you'll be fine.

there are also plenty of online caster dealers.  They come in hard plastic and/or a softer plastic/rubber-y compound which is better for floors w/ hardwood or others.

Mark, thanks. The casters at HD and Lowes have a shaft that is too narrow and the fit is very loose with a lot of play compared to the HP models which snapped in with pressure. The set of 4 I bought will be going back to HD this week. I'll try online or go the used route on eBay if needed.

Wanted to close the loop on this one. I had to eventually move the printer a few weeks ago and ended up going with these:

Replacement Casters - Z3200

They are an exact fit for the Z3200 and are much better than the OEM casters in that the printer can be moved across rough surfaces with ease. Highly recommended

Just to put my $0.02 in after the fact, I replaced my Z3200 wheels with these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0716XS58X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Essentially roller-blade wheels for office equipment.

They make the printer crazy easy to roll around, which may be a plus or a minus depending on your situation.
