Phase One IQ4 new IIQ file formats - explanation?
« on: December 10, 2018, 09:50:06 pm »

On IQ4-150 file options I have choices:

L16 IIQEX: IIQ16 Extended
L16 IIQ:  IIQ16 Large
L14 IIQ:  IIQ14 Large
S14 IIQ:   IIQ14 Smart
S14+ IIQ: IIQ14 Sensor+

Obviously I can work out what this basically means, but be good to hear from the experts here.

I was simply 'IIQL' before, which... is now 'IIQ14 Large' ?
and 'IIQ Small' on IQ3 generation is now 'IIQ14 Smart'? Or is 'Smart' an improvement on the old 'Small'?!

Thanks

L16 IIQEX: 150mp IIQ-L 16 bit with extended readout*
L16 IIQ:  150mp IIQ-L 16 bit
L14 IIQ:  150mp IIQ-L
S14 IIQ:  150mp IIQ-S
S14+ IIQ: 38mp IIQ-S

*Very slightly improved shadows, longer capture/readout time.

P1's compression algorithms are very very good, so it's really surprising how small the raws end up being, with such extremely little change in visual image quality, especially compared to the raw file size of something like the Canon 5DSr on a per-pixel basis.

Thanks Doug. Appreciated.

Clearly there's a lot to come from IQ4 firmware. A few options don't function as yet, but all's good.

The new BSI sensor is the star here, and it's a great step forward.

Our very own Brad Kaye has created a table of file sizes for each of the file formats and also each of the ISO selections (which impact and produce variable file sizes for each of the formats).
